On the 13th of august there came a new life birth from me, she is called AFENI ASSATA she is my lover and the reason why i have joy.

i have chosen this name for my child because of these two amazing women of colour participation in activism in particular when it comes to black communities in the diaspora, these women have made sure that there was rally and protest being organised to defy against black poverty and injustices toward people of colour in America allowing for the birth of new liberation movement in the modern day which we call the black lives matter movement ‘BLM’.

The panthers paved ways for people of colour and allowed for them to have a voice of reasoning and a place where opinions can be share while also fostering activism for persons of colour particular the black American communities, they provided food for the poor locals who were either on welfare or weren’t on welfare, free health clinic for those who couldn’t afford health as in america health is a privatised business, black communities have little to not much funds post ensalvement / jimcrow era affecting the community at large.

The founding of black panther is originated from the lack of justice through the lens of the policing system especially to do with how people of colour are being policed in America

Both Afeni and Assata made a very important role in the panther movement, Afeni stood trail while being pregnant with her child while Assata escaped prison to seek asylum in Cuba, unfortunately both heroes of black communities are no longer with us which is very upsetting but their history stays the same with their stories being shared across the world.

my wish is that my daughter understands these women through my teachings of who they were even if she can’t live up to them because they carried and embody different energies particularly due to the fact that they lived in different times both of their journey has paved the way for future black revolutionaries its a wonderful thing to see.
